A mobile computing platform
Carry the smartphone between the vehicle and field work while using a larger display and keyboard when docked.
Mobile Computing / Public Safety
Bring smartphone mobility and a desktop-style workspace together. The Cool Dock™ system pairs a compatible Android smartphone with a dock, protective case, display, and Washable keyboard for public-safety workflows.

The Promise of Android
Use a compatible smartphone as the computing platform for the vehicle workstation, then take it with you when the work moves outside. A compatible Android smartphone supports the docked workspace, while your connected applications support the transition between docked and mobile use.
Plan around computer-aided dispatch (CAD), records management systems (RMS), and the networks and applications your team uses. A smartphone-based approach can reduce the number of computing devices each user carries and manages.
Patented temperature management
CHiPS is MMI’s active thermal management technology for compatible mobile devices. It uses a solid-state thermoelectric (Peltier) device to cool the smartphone when it is too hot and warm it when it is too cold.
The MMI app reads real-time thermal data from the smartphone. Working with any USB-C dock, and a custom thermally conductive case, the system transfers heat between the phone and dock to manage device temperature.
Extreme temperatures can affect processor performance and battery capacity, and can cause a device to shut down. Managing temperature helps support reliable operation when that device is the workstation’s computing platform.
In a public-safety vehicle, temperature-related slowdowns or shutdowns can interrupt access to dispatch and records applications. CHiPS helps manage the smartphone’s temperature so the computing platform can keep supporting the work as vehicle conditions change.
A coordinated workstation
Combine the computing platform, dock, case, and workstation peripherals around your application.
CHiPS thermal management technology
U.S. Patent US 11,075,663 B2
Active thermal management is designed to address smartphone temperature limitations. The system monitors CPU/GPU and battery temperatures to support operation in demanding vehicle environments.
Patented case technology
U.S. Patent US 11,611,366 B2
A modified OtterBox Defender case combines mechanical protection with thermally conductive material to transfer heat between the compatible smartphone and dock.
A dedicated public-safety keyboard provides familiar input at the vehicle workstation. Coordinate the layout, pointing controls, mounting, and cable route with available space.
Explore Public SafetyBuilt around the work
