Washable open style keyboards are not an acceptable standard of care in medical environments where blood, bio-burden and gross contaminents are prevalent.
1. Fully Sealed |
|
Your keyboard should be fully sealed and seamless. No openings, no seams, nothing can hide between the keys or underneath the keycaps. |
2. Lockable |
|
Your keyboard should be lockable. You
should be able to disinfect in between patients,
shifts, cases or whenever the situation arises,
allowing for disinfection right at the workstation. |
3. Hygienic White |
|
Hygienic white. Splatter matters. With a
black keyboard, you cannot see the contaminents.
With a hygienic white keyboard, you know when it's
time to clean and disinfect. |
4. Disinfectable with Hospital Approved Products |
|
Disinfectable. Your keyboard needs to
stand up to repeated cleanings with alcohol,
approved hospital disinfectants, and 10% bleach
solutions. |
5. Attachable with Magnets |
|
Keyboards need to be attachable without
dirty velcro or tape. Medical Grade keyboards use
magnets under the skin to cleanly attach to any
surfaces like workstations on wheels or wall mount
units. |
6. Backlit |
|
Medical Grade keyboards need to be
backlit. Low light areas, like OR's, ICU's, patient
rooms, need adjustable backlight for accurate
typing. |
7. Silent |
|
Silence. Medical Grade keyboards need to
be silent so not to disturb the patients or the
medical staff. |
